About Us

The Mattatuck Unitarian Universalist Society, affectionately known as MUUS, is an inclusive congregation, welcoming to everyone regardless of ethnicity, color, physical ability, sexual preference or identification.
All that happens at MUUS is accomplished by members and friends, working together with the Minister Rev. Linda Hoddy, Misty Lewis, Director of Religious Education, and other staff.
Founded in 1980, we were awarded the “Welcoming Congregation” designation by the Unitarian Universalist Association in Boston, MA with whom we are affiliated. Our policies and actions are determined democratically by members. The Board of Trustees, elected at the annual meeting, directs the society’s business.
Our fiscal year is July 1 through June 30. The budget is presented at the Annual Meeting in May and operating funds are solicited in an “every member & friend” canvass each spring.

To learn more about who we are, we invite you to join us for an upcoming Sunday Service or one of our many activities and events.

Those interested in becoming members attend an enjoyable and informative class titled “Pathway to Membership”. Our Minister or a member of the Membership Committee will be pleased to provide further information. Membership implies a commitment to our congregational covenant, goals and purposes, and a financial pledge of support based on one’s ability to contribute.
