Wednesday, August 16: Circle of Gaia book group  7:15 p.m. at MUUS on Main Street. For more information contact Christine at 203-267-6772 or uuchristine@charter.net.

Thursday, August 17: PB & Jammin’  7 p.m. at MUUS on Main Street.  Every month, we meet to make 250 peanut butter and jam sandwiches for the Greater Waterbury Interfaith Ministries (GWIM). Come and socialize with friends, listen to music, and help feed the hungry. All are invited (children under 12 please bring an adult) and no experience necessary.

Friday, August 18: Volunteer opportunity  11 a.m. at the Southbury Senior Center.  Help out the Connecticut Food Bank Mobile Pantry when it serves our greater community. It parks at the Southbury Senior Center on the third Friday of each month around noon. Come at 10:45 to get your assignment.

Thursday, August 24: Poetry Reading Group  2:30 p.m. at MUUS on Main Street. Our featured poet is Rita Dove. While we have a featured poet, feel free to bring any poetry that delights you, including your own. Or come to listen. Everyone is welcome. Contact Lisa Quint with any questions.

Sunday, September 17: “Neighbors for Neighbors” Progressive Dinner  4 to 8 p.m. Participants will visit one faith community site for appetizers and a second for dinner before all guests come together for desserts and a silent auction concluding the evening at the Woodbury Senior/Community Center. All proceeds from the event will support the Woodbury Food Bank and fuel and crisis assistance programs of the Community Services Council of Woodbury. Tickets are $25 per person and will go on sale August 9. For tickets please contact Angela Frisbie at 203-262-3310. Tickets may also be purchased from ticket coordinator Wrey Trompeter at 203-363-6240. New for this year is the purchase of a “Sponsor a Seat” ticket; sponsorship will allow CSCW clients or others to attend the dinner. Seating is limited and will be available on a first come, first serve basis

Sunday, September 24: Welcome Pot Luck  After the service at MUUS on Main Street. Celebrating returning to MUUS after summer. Please bring a dish appropriate to the weather (let us hope that means macaroni salad and not chili.). Hope to see everyone there. Your Hospitality Committee will supply the drinks, plates and utensils. Please bring a small donation to offset that cost. Thank you. Any questions see Marianne Ashby.

Saturday, November 28: MUUS Annual Service Auction  After the service at MUUS on Main Street. We are already working on the upcoming auction, and we need your help. We did very well with gift cards from local businesses. Please take time to ask businesses that you patronize to see if they would be willing to provide us with a gift card. Call Sheri for details as we do not want to ask the same business twice.
